MISSION

Paws with a Purpose is a tax-exempt (501(C)(3)), non profit organization of dedicated volunteers and their pets who provide animal assisted activities and animal assisted therapy services to individuals of all ages with physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs in healthcare facilities and educational programs.

Purpose

·      Improve an individual's overall psychosocial well-being by promoting empathy, mental stimulation, companionship, love and affection.

·      Encourage movement by walking, petting and watching pets

·      Act as a means to open communication with withdrawn, isolated or unresponsive individuals.

·      Diminish stress and anxiety caused by illness or injury.

·      Provide the opportunity for sensory stimulation by touch, smell, sound and sight.

·      Provide a non-threatening environment.

·      Enhance participation in speech, occupational and physical therapy.

·      Improving reading skills, develop compassion for animals and build self-confidence and self-esteem.
