Paws on Parade

Doctors agree. A cold, wet nose and furry paw are often the best medicine. And locally, the Paws with a Purpose (PAWS) pet therapy dogs-from the smallest Chihuahua to the largest Doberman-are poised to provide that treatment along with unlimited doses of unconditional love. PAWS is a nonprofit organization of dedicated volunteers and their pets who provide animal-assisted activities and therapy services to individuals of all ages with physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs in healthcare facilities and in educational programs.

To help support these efforts, volunteers and friends of PAWS will walk, run, roll, and stroll in their annual walk-a-thon fund-raiser "Paws on Parade" on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 9 A.M. at Carrier Park in Asheville. Well-behaved dogs (on leases) are invited to join in the fun.

Want to add your support? Contact PAWS executive director, Pam Hardin, at 301.5737, pamalahardin@ yahoo.com, or visit pawswithapurpose.org. You can register to walk, sponsor a walker, make a donation, or offer to be one of the overall sponsors of the event.
